Cloud clusters you can count on

When it comes time to deploy your project, offering it in the cloud can be very challenging.  Your choices include very expensive managed database and server clusters from Amazon AWS, Google and others.  However, cost, lack of flexibility, and sudden usage-based surprises are in store.  All of this, and downtime will still occur, as witnessed in monthly outages at the biggest data centers.

Another choice involves rolling your own clusters by using VPS servers from companies like Akamai and Digital Ocean.  While cheaper, you must now manage your own Linux security updates, regularly optimize all running services, and monitor 100% of the time, since any event can cause an outage.  That is just to name a few issues.
